At MTO, we take a common sense approach to getting the job done right. That means being smart and agile in working with you to find the best ways to solve engineering and production challenges. Our staff’s education and backgrounds are varied, but we are unified in our drive for manufacturing excellence and your satisfaction, working smarter to make your job easier.
Scott R. Schroeder
President
Scott grew up in Oregon’s forest products industry. His father was CEO of a forest products company, and his uncle was the “Oregon State Forester” in charge of the Department of Forestry. Scott spent his school years working around production lines and mill automation equipment. He went on to earn a B.S. in Forest Engineering from Oregon State University.
His professional career spans 32 years managing timber and land resources, production facilities and manufacturing plants, mills and companies. Over these positions, he developed a keen sense of what it takes to make better products with fewer resources. Scott honed this inherent talent for problem solving and productivity into the art of getting the most out of people, machines and systems with a minimum of turbulence and discord.
Scott was Vice President of Manufacturing at Roseburg Forest Products for six years. While in that position, he was responsible for all lumber, plywood, veneer, engineered wood, particleboard, melamine, pre-finish and shelving operations. Prior employment was with Stimson Lumber Company for 18 years, starting as a forest engineer and advancing to Vice President — Inland Operations. Over the years, Scott has lead and been a member of many industry associations and committees.
Since buying MTO in 2003, Scott has grown the business by working directly with clients and staff to improve production capabilities and passing on what he’s learned over the years to the MTO team. He has continued the family tradition by introducing his son David to the value of manufacturing and the joys of solving production problems.
